Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure
In short
This site is free. It is financed through advertising and through commissions paid by registrars. Registering a domain through one of our links does not cost you more – but we receive a commission from the provider.
1. Advertising links to registrars
Some links to registrars and domain providers are advertising links (affiliate links). If a contract is concluded through them, we receive a commission from the respective provider. The price for you does not change as a result.
These links are marked “Anzeige” or “Werbung” (advertisement) directly next to the link. In addition, they run through our own addresses of the form sitedomains.net/go/….
We label them because the commercial purpose of a recommendation must be disclosed: Section 5a(4) of the German Act Against Unfair Competition (UWG) prohibits concealing the commercial purpose of a commercial practice, and Section 6(1) no. 1 DDG requires commercial communication to be clearly identifiable as such.
2. How we select partners
We decide ourselves which providers we link to. The criteria are availability of the TLD at the provider, price and reliability. The amount of a commission is not a criterion for the order in which providers are displayed.
Note for the operator: this paragraph must reflect actual practice. If the order or selection does depend on remuneration, that must be disclosed here – an inaccurate statement would be misleading within the meaning of Section 5 UWG.
3. Advertisements
On some pages we display advertisements from Google AdSense. Advertisements are loaded only after prior consent. Without consent, only a neutral notice appears in that position; no advertising cookies are set and the advertising network’s script is not executed.
Advertisements are marked as advertising and kept separate from editorial content. The legal basis for setting and reading cookies is Section 25(1) TDDDG, and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR for the subsequent processing. Consent may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.
4. What happens when you click
When you click an advertising link we count the click and redirect immediately. The only thing stored is a daily hash of the IP address – not the IP address in clear text. We do not set a cookie for this.
At the provider, its own cookies and procedures then apply, in particular to attribute the referral. We have no influence over this; the provider’s privacy policy applies. Details of click counting are set out in our privacy policy.
5. No influence on the data
Advertising and commissions have no influence on which domains we list, which status we display or how we score a domain. That information follows from registry data.
6. We are not a contracting party
A contract for the registration of a domain is concluded exclusively with the respective provider, not with us. Details are set out in the terms of use.
